The Mind of Christ

Religion is constantly trying to fix man by being or doing good things, or things that look right! But the good that is in man will never redeem him from the evil that is in him. It is still the same tree, and its fruit will always be death.

Colossians 2:20-23 NLT
[20] You have died with Christ, and he has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of the world, such as, [21] “Don’t handle! Don’t taste! Don’t touch!”? [22] Such rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them. [23] These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self-denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person’s evil desires.

Man is able, to a certain degree for various self-centered and deceptive reasons, to change his outward behavior. Only the Spirit can change a man’s heart. Therefore, the Lord looks upon the hearts of men, and in them He is looking for the heart of His Son.

Notice that I said His Son. Not what we think is a good heart. The goodness of Jesus heart was based not on the good of man but His obedience to God!

He understood that there was only one way to walk in victory and that was to listen to God because He knew what was in man!

John 2:23-25 NLT
[23] Because of the miraculous signs Jesus did in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration, many began to trust in him. [24] But Jesus didn’t trust them, because he knew human nature. [25] No one needed to tell him what mankind is really like.

Sin is empowered by the law; not just because the evil is revealed but the good as well. It drives us either to corruption or self-righteousness, both of which lead to death.

This is why The Lord tells us;

Deuteronomy 4:9-10 NLT
[9] “But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren. [10] Never forget the day when you stood before the Lord your God at Mount Sinai, where he told me, ‘Summon the people before me, and I will personally instruct them. Then they will learn to fear me as long as they live, and they will teach their children to fear me also.’

The fear He speaks of is having enough understanding as to know that trusting Him is the only way!

Trusting Him is not seeking Him just when you have an impossibility and then listening to see what He has to say about how to deal with that matter and because you obey expecting answers.

This needs to be a lifestyle!!!!

1Corinthians 2:10-12 NLT
[10] But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. [11] No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. [12] And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.

When we are subject to Him not only do we receive answers, but we receive the correction that is so needed in order to walk in that new way of living that brings life.

He said;

Isaiah 42:16 NLT
[16] I will lead blind Israel down a new path, guiding them along an unfamiliar way. I will brighten the darkness before them and smooth out the road ahead of them. Yes, I will indeed do these things; I will not forsake them.

Isaiah 35:8 NLT
[8] And a great road will go through that once deserted land. It will be named the Highway of Holiness. Evil-minded people will never travel on it. It will be only for those who walk in God’s ways; fools will never walk there.

This is why the mind of Christ is so important, the mind of Christ agrees with the ways of God and walks by faith. The natural mind has no comprehension of the things of God because of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and its constant reasoning.

That is the reason for religions failure. It takes the Word and gives it its religious interpretation, instead of God’s ways.

You see, man in his fallen state wants to have control, this would mean that just like the word says, “The carnal mind is enmity with God!”

Romans 8:7
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

Romans 8:7-8 NLT
[7] For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will.

[8] That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.

You have heard me speak of a cement block in our heads that needs to be destroyed; well that is the carnal mind.

When we have not renewed our minds we cannot please God, because it is that carnality that even though our spirit that has been reborn wants to obey God, cannot because our head is leading us the wrong way!

Proverbs 3:5-7 NLT
[5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. [6] Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. [7] Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

He saved us from ourselves when we chose His way!

1 Corinthians 2:14 NLT
[14] But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 NLT
[3] We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. [4] We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. [5] We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. [6] And after you have become fully obedient, we will punish everyone who remains disobedient.
